Women Empowerment
OPD is committed to advancing women's empowerment by fostering their active participation in decision-making processes, ensuring access to resources, and promoting equal engagement across all aspects of life. Women play a significant role in various livelihood activities, yet they face challenges in participating in crucial decision-making roles and managing financial resources. This limitation not only hinders their productivity within families but also impacts the overall community. OPD recognizes the importance of addressing gender disparities by providing equal opportunities in education, healthcare, and other development initiatives.
Informal Education
The Informal Education department at OPD plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape of our country. This department is committed to participating in the overall educational development by extending learning opportunities to both women and men who, for various reasons, have missed out on formal education. Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, OPD's Informal Education department aims to educate individuals who may not have had the chance to pursue traditional educational paths. By embracing innovative and flexible approaches, the department seeks to empower individuals with knowledge and skills, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Health Department
OPD's Health Department is committed to community well-being. We focus on improving sanitation and spreading awareness about health issues through education and resource mobilization. Our programs advocate for positive social change, emphasizing the importance of health in rural development. By addressing health disparities and promoting healthy behaviors, we aim to create thriving and sustainable communities.
Environment Department & WASH
OPD empowers communities for active participation in environmental decision-making, emphasizing genuine representation. Our decentralized structure ensures grassroots involvement, translating theory into practice. Focused on climate change and environmental protection, the department drives awareness, prevents deforestation, and applies alternative technologies like smokeless stoves, solar energy, and WASH practices. OPD's WASH project is on a mission to bring clean water to every community, fostering health and resilience.
"Making clean water a reality."
Child Protection & Development
OPD is dedicated to safeguarding child rights, eliminating child labor, and ensuring primary education, especially for girls. In rural Afghanistan, children face dire conditions, experiencing various forms of violence, and many are engaged in hazardous child labor. Limited access to educational facilities compounds the challenges, with few schools in villages and city centers. OPD addresses these issues to create a safer, supportive environment for children's holistic development.
"Dream big, little ones! Together, let's create a future filled with endless possibilities!"
Poverty Alleviation Program
In Afghanistan, communities grapple with limited livelihoods, relying mainly on agriculture. Particularly affecting women, lack of skills and resources hinders economic diversification. OPD tackles this challenge head-on, empowering families through income generation, enterprise training, micro-credit, and market access for sustainable change.
Advocacy Program
In the complex landscape of Afghanistan's human rights challenges, OPD champions a Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA). Working tirelessly at various policy levels, the organization addresses issues ranging from human rights and women's rights to children's rights. Afghanistan's diversity, coupled with its development status and sovereign Islamic Republic identity, poses multifaceted challenges. OPD advocates for justice and counters discrimination at all levels.
